Arrive at Menara International Airport, which is about 15 minutes from the medina by taxi. A standard daytime ride costs between 100 and 150 MAD. Day 1, The Medina Heart

Day 2, Gardens & Culture

The adjacent Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Berber Museum are also worth visiting. Saadian Tombs date from the 16th century. Walking through the Kasbah district offers a quieter side of the city. End the day with a traditional hammam spa bath.
Day 3, Regional Exploration
The Ourika Valley is about an hour from Marrakech and features waterfalls and Berber villages. Alternatively, you can visit the Agafay Desert for dinner.
Dining & Shopping
Chez Lamine Hadj Mustapha is known for its lamb. Other reliable medina options include Nomad, Le Jardin, and Café Clock. A terrace lunch in the medina typically costs between 150 and 250 MAD per person. Souks such as Souk Semmarine are cash‑only; cards are generally not accepted. On Fridays, many shops close at midday because of the Islamic holy day.
Practical Tips
The medina is mapped by landmarks rather than streets. Save your riad location offline in Google Maps and take a screenshot of the route from the nearest gate-Bab Doukkala, Bab Laksour, or Bab Agnaou-to help you find your way back. Marrakech is Morocco's most popular tourist city but not its capital; Rabat holds that title. The city earned the nickname Red City because its walls and old buildings are built from packed earth tinted deep terracotta.
