When to visit

Peak season runs from March to May, which brings warm weather and higher tourist volume. Off-peak season is from June to August, when you will find the most humidity and rainfall. November serves as a shoulder season with fewer crowds and slower rain. Average temperatures are 26°C in January, 27°C in February, 28°C in March, 29°C in April, and 30°C in May. In June and July, the average temperature is 28°C, while August averages 27°C.

Friday evening arrival

You can watch the sunset at Baywalk or the SM Mall of Asia complex. For nightlife, head to Poblacion for casual bars or Bonifacio Global City for upscale rooftop bars.

Saturday in the historic center

Start your day at Fort Santiago in Intramuros, which is stroller-friendly. Visit San Agustin Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can also visit the National Museum of the Philippines to see exhibits on natural history, fine arts, and anthropology, where entrance is often free. Spend your afternoon in Binondo, known as the world's oldest Chinatown. If you have time, walk through Escolta to see commercial architecture from the early 20th century.

Sunday in modern Manila

Visit the Ayala Museum in Makati or the Cultural Center of the Philippines for contemporary art and exhibits. For shopping, Greenbelt and Glorietta feature boutiques and high-street brands. If you prefer bargain hunting, go to Divisoria for wholesale finds or Quiapo for traditional goods and religious souvenirs.

Local flavors to try

For breakfast, look for tapa, longganisa, or sweet pandesal paired with kapeng barako. For dinner, try traditional dishes such as sinigang, lechon, or kare-kare.
