Where to stay in Savannah

The best area for a first visit
If you are visiting for the first time, start in the Historic District. This area is considered the heart and soul of the city.
Navigating the Historic District
The district uses a grid architecture that features 22 green squares. You will find a difference between the two main sections. The North section is trendier and more upscale, while the South section is characterized by old homes and cobblestone streets.
The boundaries of the Landmark Historic District are River Street to the north, E Broad Street to the east, Gwinnett Street to the south, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd to the west. For shopping, use Broughton Street and Bull Street. If you want to visit Forsyth Park, it is a 10 minute walk from the waterfront.
Heading to the coast
For a beach destination, go to Tybee Island. It is located 20 minutes from downtown.
Choosing your hotel
Your choice of hotel depends on your budget. For luxury stays, you can use Perry Lane or the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. If you need a mid-range option, McMillan Inn is a 4-star hotel that features an outdoor pool. Budget travelers can stay at The Thunderbird Inn, which is located just outside the Historic District.
If you prefer to stay on River Street, options include the River Street Inn, Olde Harbour Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, The Bohemian, Cotton Sail Hotel, and Thompson Savannah.
